 Our author, Derek, has two daughters that he loved reading to when they were young. Now they are all grown up, he is living the saying, "Everybody has a book in them." Little did he know it was going to be about a giraffe. His favourite animals are dolphins and, of course, giraffes! Derek doesn't think he'll ever grow up, preferring to live like Peter Pan in some fantasy land.

   Alison, our illustrator, is a busy mother of three and has always enjoyed drawing. When she's not working, she loves gardening and wild camping. Her favourite animals are cheetahs and koalas. When she grows up she wants to own a cafe selling Christmas dinners and Scottish breakfasts.
